First day of Plants!!!

Hello fellow class mates! Here is my blog post.
Ok so when we first walked in we got an excited welcome from mrs stein! She was very excited because we are now moving into the plant unit. We received a large yellow packet. So if you did not get one yesterday it is a good idea to pick one up asap. We started class off with the first plant of the day! This plant was... The baseball plant!! It is a round succulent plant. Very interesting stuff! All the plants we learn about will b on the test so keep the sheet!! Next we took plenty of fun notes on plants, and how they evolved. That was a good time.... But! We moved on to the most exciting part of the day. The lab. It is pages 5-7 that was also hw along with page 19. In this lab we went around and looked at different plants. It was our job to take our best guess at what type of plant it was. The choices were fruit, stem, root, leaf, or flower. It was a pretty difficult choice for some plants but overall a very interesting and fun lab! Well that was my blog! I hope u enjoy it and I'm glad I do not have stand in the corner holding paper with my nose. Peace!

Today in class we first looked at Mrs. Stein's wonderful blog about the new year. We also saw some great pictures of her son Max. After that we shared our fascinating stories. That was very fun! We eventually received our tests back that we took right before the break. The scores were scattered across the board and ended up learning about how grading curves work. This was all very fun.... but the highlight of this class had to be the video we watched. It went into great detail about all different animals and how they perform sex.  Some of this was pretty graphic. The most unusual technique was probably the dragonfly's. This class was a whole lot of fun and I learned a lot! We will be learning a whole lot more about this subject tomorrow in our Bio Day! I'm Looking forward to it!  Here is a picture....

Mitosis is fun

It was a shortened class due to late arrival. But we managed to get in a few things.

 At the beginning we did a star and a wish. Sabina's post was very good and very colorful. After that, we took a lot of notes on the cell cycle. We learned many things, such as the stages of the cell cycle- G1, S phase, G2 and Mitosis. This was interesting. But after all this we got a coloring sheet. This sheet showed the stages of the cell cycle. and we have to color the different parts of the cells, and don't forget to annotate the front side. This sheet was homework but we got class time for it. While doing it we jammed out to Kanye West on the xylophone! What a class!

Microscope Lab

SUMMARY- In class of Wednesday, September 1st, We came into class and wrote down the homework. As usual we sat in our seats and Mrs. Stein prompted us on todays activities. Today we had to perform our microscope lab. In this lab we would look at specimens such as pond water, yeast, insects, or paramecium. We spent today trying to get comfortable with our microscopes. We learned the basics of the microscope. After we would observe the specimen we draw our best version of it in our Unit Packet. You can find these pages from pg. 33-37. Overall another fine day in period 7 biology class!
